What we do

A family in Indore, arranging seva for families around the world.

You tell us who or what the seva is for, the date or tithi, and the seva you'd like — Gau Seva, Anna Daan or Brahman Bhojan. A member of our family arranges it personally here in Indore and shares an honest acknowledgement afterwards.

Intentionally small, personally arranged, and based in Indore — a family you can actually speak to, taking care of something that matters. We stay local so we can personally stand behind what we accept.

The occasion

Some dates live quietly in a family's heart.

Wherever life has taken you, these moments can still be honoured through meaningful seva in Bharat.

A Parent's Annual Tithi
In many Hindu families, remembrance follows the lunar tithi on which a loved one passed away rather than only the Gregorian date. A seva can be arranged in their memory on that day.

Amavasya — A Day of Remembrance
In many traditions, the new-moon day has long been associated with remembering the Pitrs through Shraddha, tarpan and acts of daan. Even if it has become less familiar, Amavasya can still be an occasion to remember and give.
Why Amavasya matters →
Purnima — Devotion & Daan
The full-moon day is observed in many traditions through vrata, worship and giving. The observance varies from one Purnima to another, but an act of seva can be a simple way to mark the day with gratitude.
Understanding Purnima →
Pitru Paksha
A fortnight traditionally devoted to remembering one's ancestors. Families who already follow Shraddha traditions should continue their family practice; a separate act of seva may also be arranged.
Understanding Pitru Paksha →
Birthday or Anniversary
Some families choose to turn a personal milestone into an act of gratitude — through food, care or giving. There is no need to present this as a compulsory religious observance.
Seva for meaningful occasions →
A Personal Sankalp
A seva does not need a special tithi. It may simply come from gratitude, remembrance, devotion or the wish to give.

The traditions behind the dates

You don't have to already know every ritual.

Perhaps your grandparents observed Amavasya carefully. Perhaps your parents arranged something each year on a loved one's tithi. Or perhaps these are traditions you have only heard about but never fully understood. Roots & Seva is not here to tell you that you must follow every practice — we want to explain the traditions clearly, help you understand the meaning behind them, and make it easier to arrange a simple act of seva when it feels meaningful to you.

Our story

The person taking care of your seva in Indore.

Roots & Seva began with a simple observation. Many families living outside India still want to honour their parents, grandparents and traditions through seva — but finding someone locally who will actually take responsibility for arranging it on the right day can be hard.

We are a family based in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. We personally arrange the sevas we accept here and share the acknowledgement with you afterwards.

Coming later

Would you like us to remember this date next year?

Tell us you'd like the date remembered when arranging a seva. We can note it and contact you before the next annual occasion — so a tithi or anniversary never slips past unnoticed, wherever you are.

Questions

Good to know.

What is Roots & Seva?+

Roots & Seva is a family-run service based in Indore that personally arranges selected Hindu sevas — Gau Seva, Anna Daan and Brahman Bhojan — for families in India and around the world.

Where are sevas currently arranged?+

Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Roots & Seva is intentionally a local, family-run service. We personally arrange the sevas we accept here in Indore rather than operating through a nationwide network.

Can I arrange a seva from outside India?+

Yes. Roots & Seva is designed especially for families living abroad who want something meaningful arranged in India without needing a local family member to take care of the logistics.

Will the seva happen on the requested day?+

Once the date has been confirmed and the booking accepted, we schedule the seva for the agreed date. If an unexpected issue would prevent us from carrying out the arrangement as agreed, we contact you rather than quietly substitute a different date or service.

Can my seva remain private?+

Yes. A seva does not need to appear publicly on our website or social media. Real completed-seva content is only shared publicly with appropriate family permission.
